Care Instructions

Cotton

Linum recommends washing cotton textiles at 60°C. In fact, some colours set better when washed at this temperature. All our buttons and zips can be washed at the same temperature. All cotton items produced by Linum can be tumble dried. However, we do not recommend tumble drying as it is very hard on textiles made by natural fibres.

Prewash

In order o ensure customer satisfaction most Linum textiles are prewashed. The products that are not prewashed are handloomed runners and placemats, rugs as well as our waffled towels.

Linen

Linen should not repeatedly be folded in the same place as this can cause the fibres to break and create permanent creasing. Natural untreated linen should not be washed with detergents which contain optical whiteners. Our linen products should not be tumbledried but ironed while damp.

Wool and Silk

Wool and silk should not be washed in temperatures higher than 40°C and always handled with special care. Use a detergent designed especially for washing at 40°C. Ironin at medium temperature. White wools or silks should never be dried in direct sunlight as this can cause miscolouring.

Handwash of wool and silk

Some untreated wools or silks are marked ”handwash, max 40°C” or ”handle with special care”. Always use a soapbased detergent that has been especially formulated for washing at 40°C . Do not soak the items but wash them gently in lukewarm water and ensure that all detergent has been properly dissolved. Rinse thoroughly. Dry heavy knits on a flat surface.

”Oil Cloth” Fabric

Our ”oil cloth” fabric is coated with acrylate giving the fabric a dirt repellent surface. If the fabric has a stain, try to remove it as soon as possible by rubbing gently with a damp cloth. Do not use anything abrasive as this can damage the surface. If you can’t remove the stain this way wash it in 40 degrees and hang to dry. Do not use fabric softener or chlorine. Always iron the acrylate fabric on the reverse side.

Pillows and padding

Our seat cushions are 100% polyester fibre. Polyester also lines the interior of most of our quilted bedspreads and throws (except Diamond, Stitch and Wave which have a cotton filling). The polyester filling facilitates the care and drying of lined items.
